Family Lies- Part 2

It had been a day since Alaris had told him what he’d discovered. It was strange. He really didn’t know what to feel about it. He should feel shocked, angry, sad… right? Instead he felt… confused, he supposed. No… empty. Like he had lost some of his identity.

But had he really?

He never really was a part of that family. He always felt out of place. Tolerated. Like he was just… there. He didn’t fit and always felt like he was cut from a different cloth. And that was because he was.

He had never been told that he had taken after his mother or his father or any of his other family. Never had any of the same interests or talents as them. While he got along fine with Alaris, they were never close. They never had the kind of...

Family Lies - Part 1

Most of Alaris’s time lately was occupied with finishing things up for the release of his next novel but now that that was nearly finished, he had been helping Saeil with much of the things needed to get the dance studio up and running. The sale of the building was nearly closed but some papers had been needed on Saeil’s end. Which the novelist had been having some difficulty finding. They hadn’t been in the place all the other legal papers of the family members were, which seemed a bit odd since Saeil hadn’t taken them with him when he had been sent away from the estate.

He had expected that maybe the papers had been lost or misplaced. He definitely hadn’t expected what he found, that was for certain. He sat there and...

The Lost Brother - Part 3

There he stood outside the manor gates, looking up at the property has he did so many years ago. The same gates he’d been escorted out of by his parents wishes, stripped of his surname and sent on his way.

He never expected to be standing out here once again, for any reason. And yet, here he was. Saeil never sent a letter back to his brother, instead he decided to just show up how he wanted, when he wanted. Maybe it was immature of him to be like that but if Alaris really wanted him back in his life then why should he care when and how it happens, right?

He had considered dressing up, looking nice and like a proper man of noble birth but that wasn’t who he was and he had no intention of trying to impress his brother with things...

The Lost Brother- Part 2

The novelist had been working on the letter to his brother for the past few days. Writing many out only to throw them away. Finally, he knew he simply had to just do it. Whatever he wrote, it could never make up for the things that had happened, the things he couldn’t stop in order to protect his younger brother. He knew he couldn’t fix anything.

Once he accepted that, the next letter he wrote he sealed up and took with him as he went to the Viari estate to visit Feyanni, finding her and handing over the letter nervously. “It will have to do.” Leaning over, he gently kisses her cheek, his hand resting at her waist. “Thank you for being patient with me. I know I have been distracted the past few days. Whatever his response...

The Lost Brother

The Novelist was still rather in shock about all of it. He knew that his brother was likely out there somewhere. He’d always seemed like such a survivor. Nothing stopped him from going after anything he truly wanted. He was like a force of nature ever since he was baby and that never seemed to be snuffed out by anything, not even their father who did his best to try to do just that. It was always as if he was somehow personally offended by Saeil’s fiery spirit. Even their mother, who seemed to admire that passion to some degree, would often try to discourage it.

That discouragement always seemed to somehow push Saeil further, cause him to burn brighter with his wild and irreverent nature. Alaris always worried that the world would...
