A full night of sleep.
The novelist truly couldn’t remember the last time he’d had such a thing. Too often he was plagued by nightmares, anxious thoughts or simply by having a mind that rarely shut off. But on this particular night, he felt content and settled. Not only was he feeling like himself again for the first time in years, he also felt calm and happy.
Those words he heard the night before danced in his head even as he woke up the next morning, accompanied by the steady rhythm of Roma’s breathing next to him, still sleeping.
Alaris crept out of bed as quietly as possible, stealing away to grab some paper and a pen. He sat down next to the bed as he scribbled out his thoughts to leave for the doctor to read when he woke up.
My love,
You came into my life at the perfect time. When I wasn’t searching for anything. You’ve been the best surprise of my whole existence. I never thought I would find love again, let alone one that would knock me completely off my feet. But you have managed to do just that.
I wish I could capture exactly how you make me feel so I could tell you but it seems I cannot find the combination of words that can do that feeling justice. At least not yet. But I want to keep trying. Until then, I want to keep showing you any way that I can.
I’m downstairs making breakfast for you. Let’s eat it in the gardens.
