Albanne Nocteciel

Description

The gent lady Albanne seems to be an old specimen of elf; given the quantity of wrinkles on her face and the weary glint in her eyes, you could probably guess that she have known the world before the isolation of Suramar.

Her height can only be described as medium; she is neither tall nor small for her people. Neither does her face could be considered as peculiar with high cheekbones, thin lips and a narrow nose.
The arcane tattoo so common among her people take on her the appearance of Elune's moon croissant on her forehead with other more common runes. They glows more intensely when she calls upon Her power.

Albanne's expression is generally one of a gentle and patient smile.

History

Albanne was born a long, long time ago, in one of those small provinces that made the Kaldorei empire. The little village of Thel'Zara was then close to the sea, surrounded by what was left of the Gurubashi tribe on one side and what would become Pandaria.

Raised daughter of fisherfolks on the coast, Albanne fell young in love with the reflection of the moon on the water and the teachings of the local priestess. After a few decades with her parents on the sea and the mangrove, she became a novice priestess in her turn.

The young novice served in her village, before being sent to travel the Empire and learn the ways of the Sisterhood. She spent almost a century in between Lathar'lazal and a souther temple, where she would met her futur lifemate, Balrius. After a long courting, they officialy their bond witnessed by Karaeth of the Waters, another priestess and Albanne's best friend.

They have a child while living around Lathar'lazal, that they name Alarima in honor of the waters that surround them. It is not until Alarima reach adultehood that the priestess is called to serve in Suramar's Temple, heart of the faith and jewel of the Empire. Such an honor cannot be refused, but Alarima refuse to part from her beloved lakes and the couple have to make their farewell to their firstborn. While they kept an active correspondance until the War of the Ancients, Alarima and Karaeth's fate after the Sundering is unknown.

Despite the absence of their firstborn daughter, the years in Suramar are sweet for Albanne and Balrius. The service in Suramar's temple is an honor and a joy, and Balrius find no lack of employment for a competent cook. They have two more children, Talathil and Mythae who get to reach adultehood not long before the first rumors who will lead to the War of the Ancients start. They both join the Kaldorei Resistance when it came, following Lord Ravencrest. It is unknown if they survived the Resistance, the Sundering and what may have happened of them if they did. To this day, Albanne still hope that one of her three children lived and to find their descendants.

Albanne and Balrius stayed in Suramar; taking care of the woundeds and dying for Balrius, fighting with her sisters against the demons for Albanne. When the dire decision to close Suramar was taken, Balrius was in a safe house in the outskirts of Suramar that would be known later as Meredil while Albanne was among those holding the line, facing what have been a great temple. While Albanne couldn't be witness of it, it is more than probable that Balrius was killed by demons soon after the Shield was put in place.

As many as her compatriots, Albanne's years of isolation started by a terrible loss and mourning.

It took a long time for the priestess to be functionnal again after the loss of her beloved, who have been her partner for centuries, and there wasn't many Sisters of Elune left in the city. When she did, she resolved herself to follow more closely the path of Mother Moon and a credo closer to Balrius': healing, teaching and protecting.

While the cult of Elune didn't survived in Suramar's culture proper, Albanne spent the following millenias teaching to children how to read, count and stories about their empire of old, as well as teaching curious or interested adults about the faith. The powers granted by Elune had left her when the Shield was up, and she learned instead to heal with more regular means as well as with the help of the Arcane, helping whoever asked her.

Her balcony was often open to those who only wished to discuss and debate, not always on Elune's teachings (be strong, be respectful, be kind. Put everything to the question, question authority, never forget to think. Many were born of Albanne's isolation and experience of the War rather than traditionnal credo.) but sometimes on philosophy, poetry or any subject they would like. This salon was never really frequented by someone else than the common of Suramar.

In the Insurrection, Albanne followed what she had preached for the past 10 000 years. Her door was open to all who needed hiding or healing, as she tried to protect as many as she could.

Now that Suramar is open to the world again, the old woman wonder on what she is going to do.

Relatives Long lost blood relatives, and a few children of the heart.
