Alone

Fingers fiddled and teased at a velvet lined tin, retrieving a pre-rolled cigarillo and placed it eagerly between lips. A snap of her fingers produced a spark tinged in violet, enough to light the joint that was now puffed to life.

Breathe.

It had become difficult to do even that. As if sucking air into her lungs only reminded her how constricted she felt. The past few days were a whirlwind of unnecessary happenstance and so much had prodded at all the disastrous parts of herself that were riddled in self-doubt. The bruises finally reflected the torment that was in constant battle inside caster’s svelte figure; beating bloody that heart.

Not once had she a chance to explore her new home without the watchful care of a sisterly stare following her every move. But, it wasn’t as if there had been much of a chance given excitement of settling in a mysterious part of the hemisphere had been overshadowed by dramatic events that had landed her incapable of full movement for two days. But today had been different, breakfast had been cooked for their now departed guest whose muscles had been put to brief use moving two boxes, and Loaireth found her hands were best kept busy setting what she could to rights in the not-yet-ready home. While Leonaess’s movements were ginger and light, to keep any twinges at bay and healing in tact, the aura soother found she could no longer sit idle as there were letters to write and objects to hunt for. Which brought shimmering eyes, now heavy lidded and sensually dreamy, to wander about looking for a face that had been a constant to her everyday.

And that comfort of familiarity and normality...wasn’t there.

Deep was the inhale of the bloodthistle confection, lashes drifting to a close as if summoning an inner strength. Parting the veil, one of the best cures she knew for a sore soul and now a battered frame was a sea bath. Pinching off the billowing herb, without caring overly much if her darling sister or twin brother glimpsed her pale behind slipping into the sea, clothing and bandages were temporarily abandoned in favor of a caressing wave.

Sitting in a gossamer robe with sash tied loosely about trim waist, fingers wiped away the remainder of soothing salve from her post-bath application and turned her focus to the ramshackle excuse for a home. Like sunshine piercing through a cloudy day, mouth curved into a smile that was felt in radiating warmth all throughout as she knew just the perfect person to help her.

“ Master Blackarrow,

I’ve done my best to not check up on you as life brought forward new transitions, though I was eager your reaction and hope that you were adjusting accordingly. But, since this is not a physician’s inquiry, I have broken my rule and I’m sure you’ll find it within your heart to forgive me.

Would you perhaps be interested in helping me to rebuild a recently purchased home? Your woodcarving is something that I would love to have displayed.

P.S. I hope Shaeliora doesn’t singe you,
