(( I wrote this story in 2010 during the in-game events leading up to the Cataclysm. ))
It had only meant to be a stroll through Orgrimmar for a certain type of parchment and inks that only a certain vendor possessed at a certain time. Of course not, Lady Moriurya Brightsinger thought as she made her way through the crowds of panicking people, of course I have to come to Orgrimmar just when the world decides to end. Her golden pupils, shaded over with the emerald glow of a blood elf, glanced over at the troll, obviously some sort of shaman, with a large group of people around listening intently.
“Pathetic, the lot of them,” the smooth voice of her consultant broke into her thoughts. Dimetri had proven himself repeatedly in his skill of managing and maintaining a noble house and its stock holdings even as the world was going crazy with rumors of destruction. He stood well enough taller than her with his light strawberry blonde hair reflecting any light that shown upon it in radiance. “We all know what is going to happen; statistics point to the very simple explanations of volcano and tectonic activity, shifting to be one hell of a bad year ahead of us. Many will die, it is natural in such disasters, but the world will not just implode.” He sighed and shook his head.
Rya gave a him a nod of agreement and gestured that she wished to continue walking. “It isn’t as if we are under–” She was cut short by a tear in the fabric of reality letting forth multiple balls of fire with eyes and arms. Of course …
“If you would pardon, my lady,” came softly from behind Moriurya, startling her slight. She turned away from the elementals, knowing Dimetri was already enjoying his time playing with the flames, and looked upon her dark haired, black-suited butler. How she had forgotten that he now followed her every footsteps frightened her. She gave a simple nod to him to which he picked her up as if nothing and shielded her head as he jumped away from the fight in a graceful movement. His silver eyes did not move to her but continued to keep watch on the battle.
Dimetri was laughing. “It has been some time since I saw the elements this upset over something! I do wonder what is going on!” Having fire be his main action in a pinch wasn’t helping, but he still remembered a few of the frozen water movements. Quickly the three fire attackers were frozen in place, crackling in anger and protest. “Ha! I say, you are not as strong as I would have thought!" Only as he was just about to finish them off did a random death knight run by and destroy them in a few simple attacks and run off without a word. “Oh wonderful! Just a bloody beautiful thing to do, good sir! I HAD THEM!”
He continued ranting about that as Rya returned to making her way through the area. “Let us get to the bottom of this, gentlemen. I do not wish to continue to be attacked so.”
Only then did the butler speak again. “Lady? Do you plan on investigating secretively?”
The smirk on his face was knowing and Rya returned the smirk. "No, Faustus. You'll be investigating; I expect your full report in three hours."
“Of course, my lady.”
