Tight-lipped

“I mean you no harm. Or him, in spite of the look on his face when we cross paths.” Besides, I’m in no position to judge him for this. For anything.

The things she hadn’t said went with her when they’d parted ways, falling in step with the dull click of her heels against the cobblestone streets.

If it had been a surprise running into ‘Serazyth’ in the gleaming, gaudy paradise that was Silvermoon City, it was a shock straight to her core to find he’d not only moved on in his cursed half-life, but that someone had attached herself to it in the process.

“I’m surprised you allow anyone else to lay hands on your things.” I never really knew you, did I?

Habit had lead her to the little dive bar at the end of the street, just as it had her finding humour in their unusual pairing. ‘Shade’ was a rather petite Sin’dorei, even by her people’s standards, dark and pleasant to look at, to be sure. Alongside Sera’s… dour demeanour and the considerable weight of his long, skeletal frame… well. There was a strange, sort of dissonance there, no?

And yet they were much more in sync than she might have thought. He’d initially shied away from referring to her as anything more than his ‘assistant’, when clearly she was much more than that. To her credit, Shade herself had no qualms about introducing herself as exactly what she was- extending a hand in friendship even as she set her teeth on edge.

“How long have you been…working together, then?” And what do you know?

Ghislaine’s own were sharp and wanting against the drag of her tongue as she waved away an amorous less-than-gentleman draping over her at the bar. The ice left in her glass clinked lightly as she reached the bottom of another round, with plum-coloured kisses on the rim as she slid it towards the bartender.

She’d ended up rather liking Sera’s pretty, little nightbloom. She had a genuine affection for him, that much was clear. Dedicated, for what it was worth, to granting him a sort of peace- to the point of ‘artfully’ speaking words of warning should Ghislaine seek to interfere.

The thought of her somehow attempting to access the arcan’dor as a means of giving him what he truly needed was laughable, and yet Ghislaine had felt only a familiar sinking in the pit of her stomach at that.

“And perhaps in time we’ll have earned one another’s trust in turn.” I scarcely know where to begin.

Another round hit the back of her throat and burned beautifully all the way down. On a whim, she reconsidered her would-be companion, offering the sloppy, golden stranger a slow curl of lips, murmuring velvet half-truths and invitation.

“Shall we go somewhere private?” I don’t want to be alone.
