Once Tris had arrived back at Rae’s she slipped into bed to try to find some sleep. She was long since out of the sleeping draught. Soon, she heard Rae and Ouro tumble through the halls towards Rae’s room. Their entry and the sounds thereof were not unlike previous nights.
Tris’ threw the pillow that had been covering her head in the general direction of Rae’s bedroom. She rolled to her back with an agonized groan. While she was surrounded by plush pillows and duvet, it all did little to comfort her into sleep before they had arrived home. In the hours since their arrival, she hadn’t had a wink of sleep. At the very least, it kept other pressing matters out of her pretty little head.
“Oh fiddle. Do they never tire?” She managed to puff a little laugh at the thought of his prowess and contemplated for more than a few moments both bedding him or joining them in the throws of passion.
Finally, just before dawn, she called for the maid and got ready to face the day. The maid never said a word, but certainly carried a knowing smirk as she helped her get ready. She wanted to be out in the city. Certainly, it was safe. Certainly, it was quiet. Besides, she wanted to be available should a business contact try to find her.
She stopped for tea and sat down outside the establishment just to watch people pass by. When she went to tip the waitress, she came upon the tiny package Morri had slipped in her pocket the night before. As she gnawed her lip, she pondered what it was and whether she should try it. “Oh fiddle, why not?” She shrugged and popped one into her mouth as she left to go check in at her own home. Chocolate was something she hadn’t thought of making in years. Not until she, Andi, Miggy, and Ren had been chatting. Well, not chocolate. Exactly. But luxurious truffles.
The maid stopped in her tracks when Tris walked in, looking behind the elf for a companion. Seeing none, the maid nodded to Tris. “Good morning, ma’am. Are you staying long?”
Tris dropped her bag as she headed to her quarters. “I have no idea. The eyes haven’t sense anything so I thought I’d spend a little time here today.” She paused and looked at the maid. “It is still my home.” She began again and beckoned the maid to follow. “I feel like a bath.”
She was soaking in the bath when the little pill started to take effect. Suddenly, she began to find humor in how droplets of water broke the water’s surface and would shiver at how it rippled against her skin. The water was cold before she drew herself away from the intoxicating liquid only because she had a thought.
“Chocolate! I can make chocolates! Nardrah! Come!”
As soon as the maid appeared Tris was listing ingredients. “Get them. Now!” She made a shooing motion with her hands and wrapped her robe around her as she headed to the kitchen. By the time the maid returned, Tris had the kitchen set up ready to make an assortment of chocolate.
“Um, ma’am. Is there something you want me to make?”
“Oh fiddle, no. I’m making something!” She giggled and started mixing in a pot.
The maid slowly nodded in disbelief and stood there, watching.
“Go!” Tris commanded with a giggle as she tossed some cocoa at Nardrah. “I’ve got this.”
The sensation of euphoria grew as her concoction came to fruition. She burnt the first pot because she found dripping chocolate to be as enthralling as the water. Darkness had long fallen before she started to slow. She’d twice sent the maid out for more ingredients and both she and the kitchen were covered in cocoa, chocolate, nuts, and coconut. She’d experimented with citrus but was unsure of them and sat them aside, separately.
As dawn broke, she packaged her truffles and wrote a few notes. She left a note for Nardrah to send them by courier, to package the remainder, and crashed.
I don't think I ever read this on Tumblr! It was so cute to see her epiphany--her 'eureka' moment in the bath even!
