Festive lights, decorated trees, oversized snow globes, and vendors being a little more persistent than they usually were, all signs that Winter Veil was quickly approaching. Amorthon fought back a tired sigh as he adjusted the bag on his shoulder and the hood on his head, carefully avoiding groups of festive merrymakers and shoppers as he made his way back to the Filthy Animal. It was just another day for him..had been for as long as he could recall.

Winter’s Veil held no special meaning to him, in previous years it had simply served to remind him of what he lacked. Had Savage not been injured, and the two not been forced to travel back to Dalaran, it was very likely that the ranger wouldn’t have recognized just how close the holiday was or paid it any mind at all. But they were in Dalaran, and Savage still needed time to heal…and as far as he was concerned, his tiger’s health was more important than his minor discomfort.

He paused temporarily at the mailbox, just long enough to check it…keeping his disappointment in check as he walked into the inn. He offered a quick nod to the innkeeper before heading upstairs, pulling the new bandages from his bag as he approached the sleeping tiger. Savage cracked an eye open and glanced up as the ranger went about unwrapping the injured leg. Satisfied that there was no threat, the tiger closed its eyes once again, letting his master finish re-wrapping the leg.

Maybe one day he’d have fond memories of the holidays…but this year he had more important things to worry about.
