Preliminary Report

“Captain?”

The captain of the Night Watch looked up from his desk as one of the men entered his office. He leaned back in his chair as the militiaman stepped forward with an envelope.

“What is it?”

“Medical report from Stormwind, sir. On the Jensens?”

“Open it up. What’s it say?”

The guard opened the envelope and took out the three papers from inside. Reading over the pages quickly, he turned from one to the next to the next before looking back to the captain.

“Preliminary is pretty much what we saw. He died of a stab wound. She died from loss of blood due to damage to her throat and neck.”

“They say anything about how that happened?”

“It says at first glance, it looks like Mr. Jensen did it. It says he likely bit her.”

The captain frowned and shook his head. “Anything else?”

“The report says that there were some other wounds on Mr. Jensen’s side and stomach. A week or two old.  Says it looks like he’d been clawed up by something.”

“Claw marks?” the captain asked, leaning forward and resting his arms on his desk. “Do they think he’d been infected?”

“They can’t say yet,” the guard answered. “So far they say they see no evidence, but its early in their investigation.”

“Fine,” the captain said with a slight huff. “Let me know as soon as the final report has come in.”

“What do we do now, sir?”

“At this point we’ve got the how. We still don’t know the why. Hopefully that young lady in Stormwind will be able to fill in some more clues once she’s recovered some.”
