Intentions

“How are you doing this morning, Sabina?”

“I am doing better, sister,” the young lady answered quietly.

Sabina Jensen sat in her chair, her hands clasped together in her lap. Across from her sat an older priestess and in between was a low table. On the table were a set of cups as well as a pitcher of tea. A soft light filtered through the windows and lit the room.

“Sister Anetta says that you were planning to go to the abbey to study.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Is that still your intention?”

“I would like to, yes ma’am.”

“May I ask what convinced you to follow this path?” the sister asked.

“I guess..  I guess I just felt something calling to me.”

“Many people fell the pull of the Light,” the sister said with a nod.

“I talked with some people when they came to Darkshire. They were priests and they told me about the Light. Then I was able to talk to some more people in town, and then I got some books to read about it.”

“Well it does sound like you found your calling then, Miss Jensen.”

“Thank you, ma’am.”

“The captain back in Darkshire has inquired about your health,” the sister said. Sabina frowned slightly and looked down at the table. “Do you feel up to answering some more of his questions.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Very well,” the sister said with a quick nod. “I will send word to him and make the arrangements. Until then, I think we should go meet some of the other priests and priestesses here. And once you’re ready, we can talk about getting you to Northshire.”

“Thank you, sister.”
