“On the right!”
The group of paladins shifted their attention at Braghaman’s call. Angling shields and weapons, they turned as a unit to face a new batch of demons that came running at the clearing. The demons were once more storming the beach head at Hope’s Landing, making one last attempt to overtake the forces there. The demons pushed against the shields, trying to get past, but the young paladins held true.
“Hold the line!” Braghaman yelled. “Hold them!”
Working together, the paladins held the demons at bay, separating one or two out at a time for the rest of the troops to dispatch. After several long minutes, they continued to thin through the group of beasts until finally they had all been slain without any major injuries to the defensive force.
“Friend Braghaman,” Bragh heard from behind him. Placing a hand on the shoulder of the paladin in front of him, Bragh glanced over his shoulder and saw Heradus and his group moving towards them.
“The support personnel have left,” the Draenei said as they got closer. “It is time for us to return to the Vindicaar.”
“We’re done here?” Bragh asked, not sure he wanted to believe it.
“Yes, friend Braghaman,” the Draenei answered, gazing off to the distance. “We are finally done.”
Cautiously, the two groups of paladins began backing their way to the transporter in the middle of the clearing. Heradus typed in a command on the control panel as the rest of the paladins stepped onto the platform. With everyone else on, Braghaman slowly backed onto the pad and watched Heradus closely. The Draenei sighed slightly before punching in the last commands and stepping onto the transporter with the rest. The last sight the paladins saw was another pack of demons swarming into the clearing before the transporter activated and sent them to the ship waiting above.
The weariness and suddenness of being "done" was palpable!
