A New Look

Sunlight.

It was rare to get sunlight around the island of Tol Barad, especially during the cold months, yet this particular day was clear blue skies accented by the thin dusting of snow settling on everything. Of course, it wasn't warm enough to melt anything enough to relieve the flora of its ice layer, but the sunlight was enough for Kav. She opened all her curtains and poked the fireplace until a good strong fire warmed the majority of her place.

Rustberg Village doesn't fit the general image of an island home Kav had dreamed of; the lack of palm trees and vibrant flowers all year round definitely affected her. Still, the place had become a home for her. Okay, so maybe the citizens that had been there for years didn't really like her wild appearance or loud studio, but they also didn't turn away her business when she shopped at their stores and they definitely didn't mind their children using the space for their instrument lessons. Maybe they finally stopped assuming she was trouble.

With that sunlight drifting through the windows and the heat of the fire drifting over her, for a moment Kav could pretend she was back in Stranglethorn. In the distance the sound of a wave crashing against the cliffs brought a smile to her face.

It was short lived.

A knock on her door brought the elf back to her music studio. That's right, she had a hair appointment. Extensions! She already got her hair dyed a day or two before, but she had been tired of the short style. Length was warmer in winter anyway. Without knowing when the spring on the island started, Kav had to change her look. The red and purple faded to pink and lilac had lasted for months - perhaps the longest she ever kept just one style. If anyone knew Kav, they knew she had to have a change. Her place in Rustberg had changed layouts at least twice since first snow.

It didn't take long. The dying of the extensions had taken longer than it took to put them in. Kav immediately asked for a braid - tonight she had a shift behind the bar anyway, so she couldn't just let it lay wild. She paid the lady and invited her to the wine pairing event at the tavern in the evening, then went upstairs to check out her hair and find an outfit.

"It's a skirt sort of day."

Sunlight, inside and out.
