"Why Do You Fear Me?"

(( This post is from a few years ago in story, but it's very relevant. Kav's only now getting over some of her fears from the events of this scene. ))

Late afternoon sun contrasted with the harsh shadows of tall pine trees. A howl sounded in the distance, back where they had come from; the feral beasts had caught their scent. It wasn’t time to rest.

Horizon took Kavaina’s hand, took a slow breath, then rounded from the boulder in a dash. Kav ran as fast as her legs would allow her, taking her hand back so she could swing her arms and keep up with her partner. It seemed only seconds had passed when the quick pad of running paws came up close behind the elves, weaving in and out of the trees along the path. Kav would have cried if she wasn’t so focused on racing to whatever safety they could find.

Ahead was a bridge over the logging run. There had to be people nearby. A large group of people with fire and heavy hitting ranged weapons. That’s what she clung to at that moment - hope. Then she realized it was late. The sun was close to setting over the hills. No one would be at the logging run besides maybe some lone guard in a tower, safe from the predators.

It was completely unexpected. Feral worgen were not common anymore, but when the pair ate their dinner on a rock overlooking the vast forest they were easy enough prey. That’s when the chase began. That’s when the wolves toyed with them.

The bridge under their feet was thrilling. It suggested they would soon be in civilization. But another howl called out in front of them. There were more! The pack had only been driving them to this spot! Trapped on a bridge with a group of vicious animals on each side closing in on them, the elves had nothing else to do. Taking each other’s hands again, Horizon and Kav jumped, hoping the waters far below were deep enough.

Oooph, worgen were not exactly what I would have planned for, and clearly Kav didn't either! Guessing the water was deep enough. Does she have a fear of heights and wolves now?

Not so much heights because she's always been a climber and jumper. She was hesitant around tall bridges and cliffs for a short time after. Wolves, Worgen, canines in general ... she's been afraid of them since this incident; she already disliked pets and her encounter with these ferals only made her dislike of dogs so much more obvious. If a wolf, worgen, dog, etc barks, growls, or runs towards her she's seriously tense and has even passed out.
