Same Old Thing

I know I've not been around for a while, but I didn't realize I had not been in contact with anyone during that time. I must have sent messages or something or else people would have been looking for me. I'm certain their reactions would have been very different if I was gone without a trace.

How long did I disappear, exactly?

The studio seems just fine. The tavern is running like normal. Maelstrom night wasn't much different than any other time I went, except maybe more Goblins than I remember before. No one looks extremely different from the last I saw of them.

    That was summer time, right?

My head hurts more - enough to make me not go on with my usual drinks and drugs all weekend. I don't remember the last time I...

"Why Do You Fear Me?"

(( This post is from a few years ago in story, but it's very relevant. Kav's only now getting over some of her fears from the events of this scene. ))

5c9ba6734c15d.jpg

Late afternoon sun contrasted with the harsh shadows of tall pine trees. A howl sounded in the distance, back where they had come from; the feral beasts had caught their scent. It wasn’t time to rest.

Horizon took Kavaina’s hand, took a slow breath, then rounded from the boulder in a dash. Kav ran as fast as her legs would allow her, taking her hand back so she could swing her arms and keep up with her partner. It seemed only seconds had passed when the quick pad of running paws came up close behind the elves, weaving in and out of the trees along the path. Kav would have cried if...

A New Look

Sunlight.

It was rare to get sunlight around the island of Tol Barad, especially during the cold months, yet this particular day was clear blue skies accented by the thin dusting of snow settling on everything. Of course, it wasn't warm enough to melt anything enough to relieve the flora of its ice layer, but the sunlight was enough for Kav. She opened all her curtains and poked the fireplace until a good strong fire warmed the majority of her place.

Rustberg Village doesn't fit the general image of an island home Kav had dreamed of; the lack of palm trees and vibrant flowers all year round definitely affected her. Still, the place had become a home for her. Okay, so maybe the citizens that had been there for years didn't really like...

A Sweet Winter Veil Gift

5c129e74e98cd.jpg

Kav grinned. The gift box had the tropical scent of fruits and the alluring scent of chocolate drifting from within, but it isn’t for her. Carefully she writes the tag, making sure to spell his name right as she says it out loud multiple times.

“I pulled your name for secret santa, so here it is! I hope you enjoy them all; if you want more I have some failed attempts at the studio.”

Though few knew of it, Kav had a passion for fruit. She wanted to carve something fantastic for her secret santa recipient, but when she pulled Talyn she had a change in plans. The man loved sweets, and Kav loved fruit. Thus a box of carefully wrapped, chocolate coated fruits had his name on it. Some had coconut shavings, others a few nuts, a...

Something Happened in Rustberg

(( Last week at Heart of the Raven. ))

While Kav had been struggling with a cold and unable to leave her pillow pile the tavern had a not-so-enjoyable guest during its normal social mixer. Kav didn’t know any of the details, only that she was glad she wasn’t there for the grotesque body. But people talk, especially nervous villagers trying to let off some stress by playing instruments at the music studio.

“V - it’s not good here. The patrols are near constant now. The felflame surrounding the place as protection is throwing many of the locals into restless nights and tense days. The horrid findings of gored critters only added to the suspicions and superstitious talks from those of the community. Some have come to avoid me -...

Kav's Thoughts: Noon

Kav’s thoughts as she prepares to open the doors for open jam at the studio today are as follows:

tumblr_oez5w8LW1R1vi4et6o1_500.gif

“Five hours of sleep - new record.”

“Did this drum get heavier?”

“Whoa shit it’s cold out here!”

“Oh gods I’m …. I’m gonna … a. a. *sneeze*”

“Good thing Dahl had to leave on some business or he’d be telling me to lock the doors for the day and eat soup.”

“Huh, a new message from V; bet he’s worried about my health again.”

“Looks like I need to buy some more plum wine so Horizon has something when he stops by.”

“What am I gonna do if all three of them want to stay the same night?”

“Yes first customer wants to play the recorder! Way to wake up the neighborhood, kid!”

A New Home

"This is it. This has got to be it. The little porch at the entrance is perfect. I can already see the front hallway with the coat hangers and boot mat. I can heat up drinks on the fire in the nook with just enough space for a table. Oh! Or a hammock! That could be cute. And this second room will fit a full size mirror and a wood dance floor - I can use the step up as a sort of practice stage! Upstairs will suit me just fine with cozy bedroom and the long hall for my instruments and surfboards and clothing chest and this little side place will be perfect for candle carving and  ... gosh I love it!"

"This is the one. No need to keep looking at vacancies," Kav grinned to Vynix, gloved finger-tips tapping her cheeks to keep them warm....

Personal Details

I want to thank you for--

She scribbles the line out, crumbles the paper within her hands, and tosses it to the floor. There are dozens of pieces like this, discarded to the wood boards beneath her feet. Some are long winded and beautifully poetic. Most are short and direct. None of them are what Kav wants to give to the friends she made while working with the burlesque group.

The elf groans and rolls her eyes as she plants her elbows on the table and presses her cheeks into the upright palms of her hands. Her thoughts swirl around her mind, yet the paper before her is blank. There she sits, dwelling on the things she wants to say to her coworkers, for hours. Only as the loud birdsong begins at the sight of the first rays of sunshine...

At Night

(( This is an old piece I wrote after an adorable roleplay scene. I'm bringing it over from tumblr. ))

Just before the stroke of midnight two elves pushed a little rowboat off the shore of a lake. They had disturbed the glass-like water, creating big ripples in the otherwise near perfect reflection of the vast sky above. Safe inside their borrowed vessel, the elves began to row out to the approximate center of the star shimmering mirror; their laughter and chatter echoed just barely against the distant cliff in the deep night.

A few short hours prior Kavaina had been playing guitar to a nearly empty inn as a way to pass the time. The mid-week bustle of the city rarely went strong after the sun set, making late nights for the elf...

A Few Days

Something about hammocking at the beach made Kav remember to check her mailbox; the last time she sorted through it all had to have been well over a month before when she sent a few letters to some friends with recording crystals attacked. Her heart raced at the thought; V had been one of those friend and might have responded without her having taken the moment to check! "Way to go he could have sent something and you didn't even know about it when you last spent time together!" Kav's mind teased her as she scurried through the jungle path to her bungalow near the resort.

The elf grinned when she saw only one folded envelope sticking out of the mailbox. With a quick slam of the letter drop door, Kav skipped off to her large swing bed...

Kav's Guitar: Kaihua (Bloom)

A guitar case of all black. Simple. Somber. Elegant. New. It didn’t scream out for attention, but rather sat in stark contrast to the flurry of colorful fabric surrounding it.

Kav sat on the decorative rug in the entertainment room she had rented for some time in Falconwing Square. Though there were plenty of lounging couches and pillows, the elf seemed to prefer the floor at that moment, her eyes fixated on the case before her. With a gentle movement, Kav’s hands went for the locks and popped them open with a click that echoed in the vaulted ceiling above. She glanced around, attempting to tame her quickly beating heart.

Curtains were hung on every wall, mostly purples but a couple reds to accent where doors might be. Though the...

Sunrise Thoughts

The sand trails between my toes as the water rushes past my feet. Even as it attempts to reach a distant tree line, the sea falls back to its depths and swirls about, leaving my wet skin open to an incoming breeze. I don’t care how the moist grains are rough on my ankles, or how the wind brings a chill to anywhere the ocean touched. My mind is in the clouds as my butt makes an imprint in the shoreline.

I am a wanderer. Unlike the waters of Azeroth, I am not contained in one location for very long and I don’t visit the same places so frequently as to become a pattern. Still, I cannot help but think of the places I’ve created connections to; Silvermoon, Ramkahen, Halfhill … they have become regular places for me to stay for...
