Meeting with the Flamethreader

It had been awhile since she stepped foot in Dalaran, the humming vibe of the city glittering electric such was it’s magical foundation. At any other time, memories would have caused her to smile but Leonaess was on a mission that started to grow more urgent by the minute. Fingers teased the hood of her cloak ever lower to conceal all save those beckoning lips, hand dove into her pocket to press against the burning letter from Cassimir where a name was silently sung. In a spire with minimal traffic set apart on an allotment of grass, resplendent in crimson and gold, was where she could last recall the public office of this particular Kirin Tor official and it was with very little excitement that she entered. The cool rush of a ward trickled over her the moment foot stepped through the doorway and on closer inspection of the gilded tower, it looked suspiciously familiar to one she could recall having been unearthed from Serpentine Kiss grounds.

Inside familiar enchanted books moved in a flutter as the spiraling staircase was lined with built in shelves that housed a full collection that was not quite on par with Darkwood but it was an amount that could be boasted. A large desk with boxes for contracts and missives was centralized in the middle with several comfortable chairs for lounging. But it was higher up the aura soother went, depending on who had access, another shield would be passed through with a cool tingle rushing over the body that she knew should she have not been allowed entrance, a nasty shock would have been received and sent her hurled backwards. Alone amongst large floating maps and large scrolls describing alchemical and runic properties for all sorts of magics flitted about around a desk laden with odds and ends: half completed wards, enchanted trinkets for protection, potions, and notations.

“ Yes, Leonaess?”

It was hard not to notice the fiery presence of Shaeliora, a deep burgundy gown clung to voluptuous curvature, lacing licking out over unnaturally warm skin where power thudded to the tune of the flame weaver’s beating heart. Feet were bare, silent save the slither of expensive hem that trailed over a plush carpet with the Sin’dorei phoenix in wide winged flight. Suspended in the center of the room, however, was a real-time projection of events going on in Silithus. Sickly was the sword that pierced through Azeroth’s core, putrescent the leaking matter that had been unearthed and now sparked a resource war. Vixen shifted attention away from the usual problematic issues the world itself seemed to get itself into, focusing solely on the hooded and very shallow breathing manipulator.

“ Leonaess?”

But far away was her mind, or rather it was overcome by a burden of shadows and whispers that moved sludging slow through her senses. For a moment there was nothing save the sound of an approaching storm, wind-shearing madness cutting out everything and one save a memorialized few that lurked at her back but never before her eyes. Coiling in her hair, were clawed digits mottled and chitinous that teased at the aureate sunshine hue as if fascinated, a hot fel slatted breath rolled against the back of swan neck causing hairs to stand on end, “ Remember, I will end it call should that heart of yours fail.” It was Varynoth, the Illidari beast’s ever dissatisfied echoing tone tunneled into her ear, “ But I can always heal you, my tender lamb.” This was feminine, tattered silkened sensuality where spidery webbed fingers clung to her waist and lazily a finger traced up her bodiced side in Lydira’s familiar wanton antics. Deeper, darker. Where her name was dropped down into a well of void.

“ Band’or Anal! ”

Like a sizzling brand was the vice-like grip to Leonaess’s wrist, drawing her out of that deepening plunge to find the furious and disgusted look of Shaeliora whose eyes glistened electric blue at the summoning of arcane. Onyx mane, serpentine tendrils coiling as if on a heated breeze in the air. It was made very clear every inch of her person was warded, especially when it came to the abilities of an empath.

“ You stupid, foolish child.”

Hand which had been tucked away into the pocket of her cloak, had been drawn out to reveal a corrupted line of black arched across her hand. To which the blonde gasped, peering closer to watch how it leached the color of her already pale skin.

“ Lady Blackarrow, I came here for your help and I promise this was most unexpec-”

That molten hand squeezed, causing the healer to cry out.

“ I don’t give a fuck about your excuses and to be perfectly honest, the world would be better for not having ever seen your face on it. But alas, here you are, bringing whatever madness is housed within that head of yours, -to my public office in Dalaran- !  What brilliance my cousin saw in you, seems to have all but diminished thanks to this idiotic act!”

Violet eyes tore themselves away from where the dark haired female’s hand was holding back the effects of the scar; once done as an honorable binding now was turning like a septic wound.

They rested with a bit of malice on the blue eyes opposite.

“ If you are quite finished, I need informat- ”

The hold was released, followed by a growled spat in a physical shove of the arm away from her.

“ You need information. Let me start by guessing, what inane adventure has Emberstalker’s spawn got you into? Oh-ho! Is that anger I see? Don’t like him being referred to as that?”

Upper lip lifted in a snarl, the Magistrix of Silvermoon slipping behind her desk with hands coming to rest annoyed on the polished wooden surface. It took every ounce of calm the gilded sylph possessed to not walk out of the room, furious at herself for many a reason.  But it was Cassimir she saw, that smile and even her growing blight was a reminder that time was growing short and worry started to set in.

“ What do you know about a particular ledger? More importantly does the name Hadevar Fireborne sound familiar?”

The stare was prolonged, predatory and cutting as it seared straight through unwanted visitor’s trembling form. Questions that shouldn’t be asked were asked, more importantly, those not of the Kirin Tor and who were not of her hunting position should not know of such things.

“ Please tell me you aren’t looking for this person. Nothing, NOTHING good will come of looking for names in that ledger and least of all -that- one as he was known for dabbling with chaotic magics pulled from the void. Did you actually look through the book? Not that I expect you to have an exact copy, as I don’t see you clever enough to bypass the archives. Did you see some of the names? Did you notice that Kalenth Emberstalker also has his horrible legacy etched in there?”

There was a flicker of surprise, flaxen brows furrowing yet she remained silent.

“ That should tell you how dangerous those names are and now I’m growing increasingly worried, and I…hate being concerned.”

Leonaess stepped forward with gaze pleading,

“ Shaeliora, it has been two days since I’ve heard from him and his last letter stated should that length of his absence continue to seek him out.”

An annoyed roll of bright eyes was the spell flinger’s response, her lips parted to send a snappy answer before Leonaess crumbled to the ground screaming. It was a banshee wail, truly testing the warded barriers of the tower. Oozing was that scar, blood dropping not crimson but black onto the carpet. Without hesitation the Lady of House An’lorath held an incantation on her lips, letting it form in a dazzle of airy runework to rip open a portal.  Only darkness and faint glowing lights suggested there were any inhabitants on the other side, but it was to this that Leonaess found herself carried through and moments later with a look of aggravated determination the Battle Mage set her mind to the task of finding Cassimir Netherward and should it come down to it, seeing another name from that ledger tossed into the Violet Hold to rot eternal.

But for now, the Flame Threader was coming.
