Divination was not something that Maraiya generally messed with. Simply because she believed in it rather heavily. Many others flocked to tarot card readers out of pure curiosity or a bonding experience with friends, just simply on a whim. But to her, it was something she reserved for dire situations. And though she wasn’t in a life and death situation by any means, she did feel desperate. She was desperate for a purpose.

Ever since her return to civilian life, she felt lost. She gave herself projects but it wasn’t the same. She felt like she needed to move forward somehow. Like she needed something to just move past this bump in the road. Instead of feeling like being back was a new phase, she felt like her body was back and her mind was not. And she just couldn’t figure out how to bring her mind back.

Back at her apartment now, she laid in bed, staring at the ceiling as her mind went back to some of those cards, thinking over what the woman had said.

The Empress 

“You were growing, and perhaps that is why you feel so stagnant now,. The empress is all about cycles and growth, living and dying, just like the seasons.  When you felt you were in flow to what was going on in your own life, being careful not to force anything that shouldn’t be. When you found yourself following your true path, you felt great abundance.”

The Six of Pentacles

“This card shows a woman in a middle of a courtyard,  holding a scale. Before her are two beggars. She gives money to one, the other gets nothing. This card is about giving and receiving.  Before if you had a need, you were given it,  and you could give in return. However now, it seems that balance of give and take has been broken, having you feel lost.”

“You are feeling very restless and anxious. There is a lot of energy that seems to have no direction.  You can’t wait to start your next phase because waiting around is not something you like to do. You can’t wait to get into the next phase.”

“You are insatiably curious. These two pages show me that you have a keen and intelligent mind, one that does not enjoy staying idle. You want to go and solve this problem now.. Cut through the chase and get moving.”

The Lovers

“This card is getting to the crux of the matter. While many would think the Lovers is about relationships, it’s really about choices. Do you go with what your heart wants, or your mind?  When you can find something that both your heart and soul can agree on, then you will find the right path and finally move forward.”

The Devil

“One possible outcome.” She drew a card showing a woman chained, hands and feet together, and left on top of a skull. She is crowned with jewels and delights and seems to be enjoying quite lovely pleasures. “The Devil card is not really a pleasant one. It suggests bondage or addiction to a dangerous practice. It warns against not over eating or overindulging and finding a balance.  Being held captive by your passions sounds like fun but in the long run can wear you out.”

Wheel of Fortune

“The Wheel of Fortune Reversed suggests a temporary setback or even a complete reversal of fortunes that you may not have desired, but also can show that you can’t fight against circumstances that you can not change. It’s important to go with the flow, and know that in time the wheel will turn again to where you will have a better path of fortune.”

Ace of Swords

“Through these trials you will find a moment of pure insight.  Your quick action and energy will show to you what needs to be done and get you out of a potentially bad situation.  You will be able to find the right words and can use the energy perfectly. It can also suggest a new point of view, either a discovery of yourself or intellectual achievement.”

Stopped up. That was definitely hitting the nail on the head. Stopped up and nowhere to put any of it. It was true though and she knew it that she couldn’t force this. She just had to wait. Wait for the right time. The right opportunity. In any case, it sounded like some interesting, maybe exciting things could be coming her way. Though she was generally a patient person, it was hard when she felt so incredibly aimless. Somehow though… this feeling had to pass. With time.
