trust

Trust was always a funny thing to Maraiya. She knew how it worked. She knew that it had to be a two-way thing, that it created a bond between two people. A bond she always had wanted. And yet, those walls continued to go up and stay up. Though there were some people she liked a great deal, people she felt a sort of connection with, she still kept them at arm’s length. She’d offer things about herself without truly opening up, mostly content to talk about them instead of herself. When she did talk about herself, it was about more frivolous things. The rare times she went into deeper subjects, she’d quickly reel herself back in.

But then that all sort of comes crumbling down when someone comes into your life, offering up the...

the ace of swords

The past week had been a unique one. Filled with changes that the week before she never would have anticipated. She’d spent her first night at the Red Moon, getting settled in and used to things and then the next morning she celebrated a bit with Xylaes before heading back to her place in Silvermoon, picking up a few more things she wanted with her at the Moon.

As she grabbed a few things from her dresser, her eyes caught the parchment that was laying there. The cards and interpretations from the reading she had gotten last month. An odd feeling settled in her chest, a mix between a chill and comfort somehow. Divination was a terrifying thing to her, even though she did turn to it when she was in need.

the wheel of fortune

Wheel of Fortune

“The Wheel of Fortune Reversed suggests a temporary setback or even a complete reversal of fortunes that you may not have desired, but also can show that you can’t fight against circumstances that you can not change. It’s important to go with the flow, and know that in time the wheel will turn again to where you will have a better path of fortune.”

Weeks and weeks had passed and still, she didn’t feel like herself. She felt like she’d been slipping in and out of reality, in and out of emotions so much that she wasn’t sure which were even really her own. She has losing herself.

She had thought she was strong enough to continue her usual life, her usual work but she wasn’t. She didn’t listen...

the six of pentacles

Divination was not something that Maraiya generally messed with. Simply because she believed in it rather heavily. Many others flocked to tarot card readers out of pure curiosity or a bonding experience with friends, just simply on a whim. But to her, it was something she reserved for dire situations. And though she wasn’t in a life and death situation by any means, she did feel desperate. She was desperate for a purpose.

Ever since her return to civilian life, she felt lost. She gave herself projects but it wasn’t the same. She felt like she needed to move forward somehow. Like she needed something to just move past this bump in the road. Instead of feeling like being back was a new phase, she felt like her body was back and her...

just breathing

The chirp of her comm was a distant sound, like white noise, as she left the Red Moon that morning. She new how she must look. Her hair a mess, remnants of makeup smeared, wearing last nights clothes. The scent of sex and bloodthistle lingering on her skin. Not that sort of image that one brings to mind when they think of a Light wielding healer.

But what did it matter?

She was late for work. She knew that she would be and yet, she still had stuck around late into the morning, hungry for another round of blissful normalcy, something that brought her mind back into the here and now even if it was temporary.

No, she knew that it wasn’t a way to solve her problems. That wasn’t the point anyways. It was far from the only...
