Burning Soul

Fuck Argus.

Saeil knew it was only a matter of time. It had always only been a matter of time, but that time came closer than he had expected it to. He hadn’t anticipated this, after all. But it was happening and he could tell it was affecting things. Thoughts that weren’t his own were now creeping in, he was even hotter to the touch than he was normally. Too hot. And that morning, he’d woken up to his arm being on fire. His spells were no longer cutting it.

It was now trying to take over. The very thing that had saved his life was something that could easily take it away. Although Saeil was a laid back back who most saw as someone who didn’t have a care in the world, this was always something that was in the back of his mind.

It was a story that very few knew. Only three people in his life knew anything about it. And a couple of them may have not even known the full details or at least, they didn’t want to think about it, didn’t want to ask too many questions. Though he was sure that others knew something was different about him. Not everyone had two different colored eyes, one being purple. The story though started decades ago. It wasn’t long after he had been disowned from his family and he had been spending much time with a woman who had been teaching him about magic. The lady in the black dress. That was what he had called her for a long time. He later learned her name: Zelektra.

They’d both been rather foolish that day, thinking they could manage to summon an abyssal by themselves. Needless to say, things went wrong. It didn’t hold and Zelektra’s life was quickly in danger. Saeil did what he could to allow her a chance to get away but it cost him his life. Dying was not a comfortable thing, but his teacher didn’t leave him there for long. She came back for him and used the abyssal’s soul to bring Saeil back life, binding the two together and solving two problems at once.  It was when Saeil was brought back to life that way that his right eye turned violet.

Keeping the demon suppressed was something that he had to consistently work at. There were spells he used everyday. But he knew that he wouldn’t be able to go on like this forever. Slowly but surely, the demon ate at him and he knew that it would eventually kill him, that he’d have a shorter life than the average Sin’dorei.

And now… It seemed Argus’s presence was amplifying the issues the demon’s soul presented for him. He could always feel it, it was always there and certain things had always stirred it at times. But now it was stronger and it gave him cause for worry. He’d have to do something about this and soon. He needed to talk to Zelektra. And he needed to explain some things to Thaen and Dae.
