Not What She Paid For

"Well this isn't Silvermoon..." Khaeris turned around and peered. No, it wasn't Silvermoon at all. She looked back over her shoulder to where the portal had been only a moment prior. No trace of it remained except the slight tingle of the arcane over her skin and it was already fading fast.

"Huh." She spun in another circle and her lips pressed together. She knew where she was. The sky blue and much too close, the spires were tall, and there were a few other travelers in the portal room. The Kirin Tor attending the room bustled her  out the door with an efficiency born of hours of practice. Dalaran.

"Gods and goats." She tried to be annoyed, but she wasn't. She laughed and dug at her pocket knowing what she'd find--her coin purse gone. It was.

That nightborne mage had smiled so obligingly, just a tad aloof, a tad irritated at the job she'd accepted. Getting a portal to Silvermoon while in Nazmir! It had seemed like such good luck to run into an arcanist while at Torga's shrine. Khaeris had paid more than the going rate, but apparently the inconvenience to the woman merited a further tax in Khaeris's own inconvenience and money. She'd had her pockets picked and wasn't where she'd intended to be.

She still had her comm though, and she flicked it open and started her message. "I hadn't meant to message you like this. I wanted to surprise you that I was coming home. But ... yeah. Can you come pick me up, hon? I don't have enough money to pay for another portal. I'm in Dalaran. Maybe we could stay here tonight? Make it a little couple's holiday?"

Maybe she could make this trick into a treat.
