A Lost Song

image

Boralus held typical weather. If it wasn’t raining then the skies were slightly overcast with the struggling sun over head and on some occasions there was a wind off the water that indicated a possible storm. The gulls squawked through the air and the pair followed much of the crowd moving along the docks and Hale lead them through the masses and down towards the southernmost exit of the city past much of the fish markets and fishermen coming in from their mornings’ catch.

“You know, I never thought I could sort of get use to this place. It really has a different vibe than Stormwind, less proper, more rural and earthy.” she added while the two walked. Both of Hale’s hands tucked inside the pockets of her leather jacket,...

Burned

It had been a while since Hale returned to her room and she had already changed out of the mud and muck only to have found something a little more suitable for lounging. Her style never seemed to change. Leather pants, linen shirt and a belt decked to the teeth with sundries that most would be afraid to tamper with. It is said that poison is a woman’s weapon and they weren’t wrong. Many of Hale’s private clients were actually women looking to rid themselves of nuptials or that they fancied themselves a better prize than their familiars. Whichever were their affairs, Hale never tampered with them, she only supplied them.

She was a long away from her business back in Stormwind and even more so her snakes which aided in her...

Merriment - Boralus Pt.3

Part 3

Gold, sharp eyes narrowed into mere slits as he sought understanding in words that rang and buzzed in circles about ear and head. The grip on her belt tightened, the pipe pressing harder into skin, and then he shook his head. “You should have left me there,” he pronounced before his brain caught up, and right after he peeled off into a low, hysterical laugh. Dropping his hand and thereby removing impromptu weapon from throat, he turned head away to look anywhere but at her. Lower lip pulling in to worry against teeth, he shook his head and continued his amusement without laughter.

“Just what I need, to be remembered when looking to be forgotten. Fucking love irony.” His voice was more alive, face more expressive as he...

Merriment - Boralus Pt.2

Part 2

Oh, hey,” he exclaimed in hello to the bottle’s movement back into his easy reach. Swiping it up from the the stirring bed, he took another ‘healthy’ swig. The banging commotion caused him to sigh, delight cut short as he turned toward the curtain; the only barrier between what was coming and them.  Ignoring the bleary eyes and worried faces of his former bedtime partners, he hiked a brow at Hale as she confronted him. The sudden crash that followed came from the bottle as he tossed it back over his shoulder to shatter against the wall, leaving one hand free and the other still holding his pipe which was actually finely wrought.

Looking down to his free hand, he opened and closed it, flexed his fingers, then...

Merriment - Boralus Pt.1

Part 1

image

Below the horizon the sun yet hid, only just threatening to peak out by orange glow amidst the morning still within its twilight. The air, misty and dank clung to the space between the houses and the streets. Old bones of homes began to stir; groaning, creaking, with open windows and fires stoked and fed. With doors opening, letting free the people and their pets huddled within. Almost too soon the noises began to grow in volume with forges alight and bellowing, with the shanties of sailors and fisherman, the squawk of gulls.

Then, life truly at last for the day, signaled by the toll of bells and the light that drowned the sky in gold and orange at the edge and brightened the skies dark hues. Yet for all that light and...

Home is Where the Heart is

                                                          .Greed.Pride.Wrath.image

The horizon bled into an array of bloody pinks and aggressive reds which kissed the horizon with a tinge of deepening blue from the retreating night. Below the prattle of soldiers carried throughout the entirety of what was left of Brill. Buildings were demolished and what good wood was left was used to construct their assault towers. The Alliance assault decimated the small town in a matter of hours with little resistance from the main Horde forces setting up at the bulwark of the towering city a league or two ahead. The assault towers were in complete working order and nearest the very apex is where Ottavia sat high above with...

Second Attempt

(Another collaborative writing between Niviene and myself, though not as long as our normal stuff.)

The gentleman tugged his cloak tighter around his shoulders as he walked down the path from the gryphon master. The shadows cast by the trees always made Darkshire seem colder than the season should be, at least in his mind. In the back of his mind, he noted the clock tower chiming in town. Eventually he made his way to the gate that welcomed people to the Darkshire Academy.

As he stepped into the courtyard outside of the main building, the sound of children started moving towards him. Within moments, the doors to the academy opened and students of various ages exited on their way home. The gentleman stepped to the side to let them all...
