Painful Memories

He hated this assignment. Less than a week and he could easily say that he absolutely, unequivocally hated this assignment. Send him scouting in Suramar and almost get Savage killed…not pleased with it, but he’d manage. Having him wandering out on the Broken Shore, and almost end up minus one shoulder…Again, not happy with the arrangement, but he’d make due. But this? The ranger shuddered as yet another echo ran by. This was easily one of the worst assignments he’d been given in a long…LONG time.

Amorthon shuddered again as he found a small isolated corner, quickly removing his chest plate, pauldrons, and gauntlets before setting his head in his hands and taking several deep breaths. “…What the hell…” These weren’t even Sin'dorei, these were echoes of Draenei. It shouldn’t have been having this type of impact if any at all. Yes, it was horrible seeing what had been done…what had once been -what he could only assume- was a beautiful world torn to pieces by the Legion, but it shouldn’t leave his head throbbing and his guts churning. He pushed further back against the wall, not noticing Savage, as the tiger gently nudged his hand.

“Won’t remember a thing…Brother’s gone, his mother won’t know…” Chaos, fear, …pain? A familiar…face? ‘But you were supposed to protect…’ The hand at his neck gripping just a touch harder. “…-For your own good. Better to sacrifice you,…" Than to what…?’

The ranger lifted his head in a quick motion, groaning as the back of his head met the wall with a resounding crack. He groaned, letting his now throbbing head fall forward again, reaching up to pet Savage gently as he finally acknowledged the tiger’s gentle nudging. ”…I’m…no I’m not, but I will be just-just give me a minute…“ He took a steadying breath as he lifted his gaze, making sure to go slow -he REALLY didn’t want to get sick-, only to tilt his head at the sight of the three small animals slowly easing their way towards him. Well, towards Savage really.

The tiger turned, satisfied that Amorthon wasn’t going to fall over…or smack his head again, and eased forward, sniffing at these new creatures. After a few tentative sniffs, the tiger eased down, and the animals, what Amorthon managed to identify as…Marsuuls? took turns climbing over the larger animal. Despite his throbbing headache, the ranger managed a small smile. Well, at least not everything on this planet was out to kill him…even if his memories were.
