Sister Anetta cautiously opened the door to Sabina’s room. Two other priests stood behind her as the door slowly swung open. The three looked into the small room and then relaxed slightly.

“Guess she’s not here,” one of the priests said.

“I didn’t expect her to be,” Sister Anetta replied with a shrug of her shoulders. “Let’s look around and see if there’s anything here.”

The three priests stepped into the room and began looking around. One of the priests began looking at things that sat on the small desk in the corner of the room while the other knelt next to a chest and opened it to look inside. Sister Anetta knelt down next to the bed and peered underneath. She slid a small box our from beneath and lifted it onto the bed.

While the other two priests were looking around, Sister Anetta opened the box and looked inside to find several leather-bound books. Gently, the priestess took one out. It was bound in deep red leather and Sister Anetta frowned slightly when she touched it. He frown deepened when she opened the volume and began flipping through the pages. Abruptly, she closed the book which caused the other priests to turn and look at her. Sister Anetta looked at the other books in the box before replacing the one she’d taken out. She then stood up and picked up the box from the bed.

“Let’s go.”

“What is this?” Marshall McBride asked as Sister Anetta set the box down on the table near him. The library was still humming with excitement from what had happened earlier.

“We found this in Sabina’s room. It may explain some things.”

The marshal opened the box and looked inside. Seeing nothing more than books, he reached in and took out the red covered one. He frowned as soon as he touched it. McBride turned the book over but never attempted to open it before he returned it to the box.

“What is that?” he asked, obviously unhappy.

“Advanced teachings. Shadow,” Anetta added with a whisper. “This is not something a novice should have in their possession.”

“So she’s definitely the one behind all of this?”

“I don’t know. If anything, this just gives us more questions.”

“We need to find that girl.”

“Agreed, marshal. But we need to be careful about it. We don’t know what she’s capable of at this point.”
