Sister Anetta glanced at the young lady sitting beside her as she guided the horse along the path through Elwynn Forest. Sabina Jensen sat quietly next to the priestess as they passed the trees and crossed the rivers. Even though Sabina would answer as briefly as possible, Sister Anetta continued to talk as they traveled. On occasion, Anetta would give the young lady a sad look, but she would then continue on with the mostly one-sided conversation.
“Have you ever been to Goldshire?”
“Twice,” Sabina answered quietly.
“I’m always amazed at how lively a village it is,” the sister offered, looking down the road to the outskirts of the settlement. “It seems like everyone comes from all around to see it.”
Sabina nodded and then looked up, noticing the village as it crept closer.
“Once this is all done, and you come to train in the abbey, you’ll have some chances to go to Goldshire more often. If you want, of course.”
“Sure.”
Sister Anetta sat up slightly in the cart as they enterer Goldshire. The conversation faltered as she focused her attention on making her way through the crowds outside the inn and the blacksmiths shop. Sparing a look beside her, the priestess noticed that Sabina was gripping her hands tightly together, so much so that her knuckles were turning white. Finally, after several minutes, the cart left the village and continued on the road to Stormwind.
“Soon enough, we’ll be at the Cathedral.”
“Do they know why he jumped?” Sabina asked out of the blue.
“I’m afraid not,” Anetta answered with a sigh. “He was new in town from what I understand.”
“So it was pointless.”
“I’m sorry, dear, I just don’t know.” Sister Anetta looked at the young lady beside her. “Are you doing okay, Sabina?”
The young lady nodded slowly, but didn’t return the priestess’ gaze.
“I wish we were at the Cathedral already.”
It's funny how when you try to make someone stop talking by responding sparingly... they read it as a sign they can take up the empty space and fill it with their words instead :)))
