Meeting with Father - Tesclina Kotara

Tesclina stared at the highly polished desktop that separated her from her father, her eyes absently following the whorls of the wood grain while he studied her. “Your doctors gave a good report on your progress. They believe you have made a complete recovery and I am very pleased to hear it. It’s been a damned nuisance having you out of commission.”

“You shouldn’t have had me committed then.” she replied, raising her gaze to settled on the man who sat opposite her.

“Yes. well if you hadn’t displayed such destructive behavior I wouldn’t have been forced to. One does not go about slaying demons in the city streets after all.” he glared at her, his distaste for her plain on his face.

Tes shrugged, “You do if their rampaging and killing innocents. It was the right thing to do father. It wasn’t a show of madness.”

The elder Kotara snorted, “You are hardly hero material Tesclina. You could have gotten yourself killed.”

“But I didn’t. Besides, if I had I would have taken a bunch of them with me. I’d already killed many of them. And could have killed more if you hadn’t stopped me.” she leaned forward in her chair, her expression cold, “Instead you locked me away for nearly a year. You snapped your fingers and poof! I was gone. Or at least it looked that way to my friends.”

He laughed, the sound nearly as cold as her gaze had been, “What friends?” he sneered.

The two of them sat stone still, staring one another down until finally Julius Kotara lowered his gaze to the stack of papers that lay on his desk before looking up at his daughter, his face schooled into the features of a practical business man, “You’ve vacationed long enough, it’s time to go back to work for the company. I have need of you in Kul Tiras.”

The anger that had risen nearly to the boiling point suddenly cooled, her interest, despite herself, was peaked, “Kul Tiras?”

Julius smirked, “I am sending you there to determine if we should renew our trade agreements. We’ve an office in Boralus, I’ll send word ahead to my contacts in the city. They’ll be ready to meet with you in a weeks time.” he sat back, his expression smug, his voice dripping sarcasm, “I trust that will be enough time for you to say goodbye to your friends.”
