Little did Vel know that when she started walking down the cobblestone that was outside of her parents home, this would be the night that would ultimately shape what would be the rest of her life. She knew that it wasn’t safe, and that wretched roamed the streets in force these days but she really didn’t care. She had to get away from that house. It had started yet again. She continued to hear the screaming from nearly a half mile from the house when they were finally out of earshot. After a few more steps Veli decided to just have a seat on one of the planters that was on the edge of the area she knew was a wretched hot zone.
Veli sat there and stared at her surroundings and found herself wondering what the point of continuing to live a lie. Her parents weren’t ever going to be the loving family that she had first known when she was a child, but ever since all of the troubles came into the Sin’dorei lands everything seemed to change and she couldn’t help but despair in the entire situation. So as she sat there, trying to figure out the next move she should make or if there was one available to her regardless she heard a commotion behind her.
The poor dragonhawk behind her started to squeal out in pain and agony after a group of Light forsaken wretched had surrounded it. It was fluttering around desperately trying to get away from their attacks and it was nearly gone by the time that Veli had a chance to intervene, she knew that if she didn’t act quick that the monsters would drain the poor beast of all it’s energy. The Sin’dorei just glared at them and shouted out loudly “Anar’Alah!” and a strong red Light came shooting out of her fingers towards the first of the Wretched, sending him flying away from the dragon hawk. Vel then shot one after the next and leaving the wretched in shambles. She had no idea where this power had come from but she was thankful that whatever had given her this gift also gave her the ability to save this poor defenseless creature.
She quickly picked up the dragonhawk and cradled it in her arms and swiftly ran it to the inn at the other end of the courtyard and nursed it back to health as well as she could. She spent weeks on end just making sure that it was eating and that it started to regain the strength in her broken wings. Knowing that this was the sign that she needed she had named the dragonhawk Hope and continues to care for it to this day.
