Return Letter

(This follows the events of this: https://chardiary.com/c/Regynn-96/diary/entries/545 )

Marc sat on his bed, his foot idly tapping against his greatsword on the floor as he read over the letter one more time. His brow furled slightly and he let out a quick breath as he thought about what he’d read.

“Boralus”, the paladin muttered to himself. “And we thought I’d be the one running around.”

Marachius continued reading, reaching up and scratching his chin. At least she’s found some friends over there, he thought. Someone to keep her company while I’m stuck here.

Then he paused in his re-reading. “Boyfriend? Why would she think I was a boyfriend? What did Reggy tell her?” His face scrunched up as he re-read the...

A letter...found in a pile in the woods.

Dear Maira,

I'm sure I saw her! The little girl that lived in that cabin...with the Annes family? I was on hunting party trying to get this Feral worgen when this little blonde girl showed up, it seemed to be calmed by her presence...you had to have seen it Maira!

The huntsmen still tried to hurt the beast and I really mean "tried" as the little girl..whatever she is, conjured some roots that killed two of the hunting party, she just looked at me and said "Run."

Bless the light I survived, I'm coming home my darling and I am never setting foot in Duskwood again!

Sincerely your loving husband, John.

A dangerous question.

It was a priest this time, a holy woman...bound to a metal spike, Colette eyed Kalafi (the demon she was bound to) as it drew out the soul of the priest.

"How can you just watch?! Do you enjoy this?" The priest was still able to speak it seemed...and whine the witch thought.

"Of course she does, my dear heart is almost as cruel as I am." The witch rolled her eyes but when the priest spoke again it lit a fire in her. "The light will save me!"

Nearly snarling the witch walks over to cup the priests face and say "Like it saved me?! Let's see, scream for it, beg it for help." Fel magic slowly burned the priests face as the poor woman called out over and over again but given the spell that dampaned her holy magic...nothing...

Prince Charming

For as long as Amrieth could remember, she had a deep love for books. Books of any kind, really. But romances always held a special place in her heart. Even as a little girl, she enjoyed the fairy tales of princesses finding their true loves. Something about it was just so magical to her. Her own parents were a product of an arranged marriage and even though it worked well enough for them, it wasn’t something she wanted for herself.

She was in no hurry to get married or even to find love. She always believed that it would find her if it was something that she was meant to have. And even though her mother always said she truly did love her husband, Amri very much didn’t believe that she’d find love in some political...

December 3rd

Inerris couldn’t stop grinning the entire way home. He honestly felt like he was floating. It was a foreign feeling to him but one he liked already. Was this really what it was like? No wonder people made such a big deal about it.

It was late and he knew that he should sleep but even as laid down in bed, he just felt wired. Memories and images and words from the evening racing through his mind in the best possible way. Rolling on his side, he saw his journal laying there and sat up. Why not write something happy in it for a change?

Dec. 2nd…. 3rd now

“You are such a bright, beautiful soul. I’ve liked that about you since the start.”

I really never thought I’d hear someone say something quite like that to me. But...

Peace

A full night of sleep.

The novelist truly couldn’t remember the last time he’d had such a thing. Too often he was plagued by nightmares, anxious thoughts or simply by having a mind that rarely shut off. But on this particular night, he felt content and settled. Not only was he feeling like himself again for the first time in years, he also felt calm and happy.

Those words he heard the night before danced in his head even as he woke up the next morning, accompanied by the steady rhythm of Roma’s breathing next to him, still sleeping.

Alaris crept out of bed as quietly as possible, stealing away to grab some paper and a pen. He sat down next to the bed as he scribbled out his thoughts to leave for the doctor to read when he woke...

A Captain's Thoughts

My elder brother, Landyn, was pronounced lost at sea and presumed dead when salvage was found of his ship along the coast. House Enturose, a minor noble house, owned a shipyard famous for their sleek, fast ships so unlike the typically larger ships built by the other Tirian shipwrights, and Landyn Enturose was the family’s big bid to move up in society with his devastatingly powerful new design.

I was a child. Landyn was my idol. More than ten years my senior and one of the youngest and most promising builders of the time, and my only brother. Sometimes he’d take me out on the waters in a little rowboat and talk with me about all sorts of things. He taught me how to ride a horse, read building drafts, keep a ledger, play darts, and...

Letter Home

A somewhat harried looking courier handed a wilted envelope to the young paladin as he and his friends came clattering off the practice field, their plate armor gleaming dully in the afternoon sun. As Marc took the letter the courier grumbled something about love struck girls and Light forsaken portals and never traveling to Stormwind again before he gave the group of fighters a final glare and scuttled back the way he’d come.

Marc looked down at the envelope, noticing immediately that it was from Regynn. He looked back toward the retreating courier, shrugging off the ribald comments of his friends as he hefted his sword, carrying it and the letter back to his room.

Unfurling the page, he caught the scent of the sea along with a...

Alone.

Mood Music

The first time she had felt the wrath of her shadowy protector was when she had dared to develop a soft spot for a librarian.

The woman in question had long curly red hair and green eyes which sparkled with innocence. Colette had met her one day while wandering through the twisting book shelves of a small library in Stormwind.

The poor young librarian had ran face first into her and the two fell down, instead of yelling like most would of the girl laughed and introduced herself as "Chelsea."

The two would meet on many occasions, bonding over books and good food. They shared a first kiss when Colette confessed her feelings to the redhead over a cup of tea.

Unbeknownst to Cole her demonic friend had been watching this...

The greater imps are far more powerful than their lesser cousins, possessing more muscle mass and quicker minds. Some even can handle extensive use of fel magic.

If one wishes to deal with one they will it quite easier than they’d expect, all Imps regardless of physical and mental strength desire “trinkets” be they gold or silver or simple brass. (The author would like to assure the reader that unlike the wyrmtongue, imps usually desire trinkets with -importance- to the warlock, instead of just simple treasures.)

Due to the fact that imps are a considered “cannon fodder”...

trust

Trust was always a funny thing to Maraiya. She knew how it worked. She knew that it had to be a two-way thing, that it created a bond between two people. A bond she always had wanted. And yet, those walls continued to go up and stay up. Though there were some people she liked a great deal, people she felt a sort of connection with, she still kept them at arm’s length. She’d offer things about herself without truly opening up, mostly content to talk about them instead of herself. When she did talk about herself, it was about more frivolous things. The rare times she went into deeper subjects, she’d quickly reel herself back in.

But then that all sort of comes crumbling down when someone comes into your life, offering up the...

the ace of swords

The past week had been a unique one. Filled with changes that the week before she never would have anticipated. She’d spent her first night at the Red Moon, getting settled in and used to things and then the next morning she celebrated a bit with Xylaes before heading back to her place in Silvermoon, picking up a few more things she wanted with her at the Moon.

As she grabbed a few things from her dresser, her eyes caught the parchment that was laying there. The cards and interpretations from the reading she had gotten last month. An odd feeling settled in her chest, a mix between a chill and comfort somehow. Divination was a terrifying thing to her, even though she did turn to it when she was in need.

Ace of Swords

the wheel of fortune

Wheel of Fortune

“The Wheel of Fortune Reversed suggests a temporary setback or even a complete reversal of fortunes that you may not have desired, but also can show that you can’t fight against circumstances that you can not change. It’s important to go with the flow, and know that in time the wheel will turn again to where you will have a better path of fortune.”

Weeks and weeks had passed and still, she didn’t feel like herself. She felt like she’d been slipping in and out of reality, in and out of emotions so much that she wasn’t sure which were even really her own. She has losing herself.

She had thought she was strong enough to continue her usual life, her usual work but she wasn’t. She didn’t listen...

the six of pentacles

Divination was not something that Maraiya generally messed with. Simply because she believed in it rather heavily. Many others flocked to tarot card readers out of pure curiosity or a bonding experience with friends, just simply on a whim. But to her, it was something she reserved for dire situations. And though she wasn’t in a life and death situation by any means, she did feel desperate. She was desperate for a purpose.

Ever since her return to civilian life, she felt lost. She gave herself projects but it wasn’t the same. She felt like she needed to move forward somehow. Like she needed something to just move past this bump in the road. Instead of feeling like being back was a new phase, she felt like her body was back and her...

just breathing

The chirp of her comm was a distant sound, like white noise, as she left the Red Moon that morning. She new how she must look. Her hair a mess, remnants of makeup smeared, wearing last nights clothes. The scent of sex and bloodthistle lingering on her skin. Not that sort of image that one brings to mind when they think of a Light wielding healer.

But what did it matter?

She was late for work. She knew that she would be and yet, she still had stuck around late into the morning, hungry for another round of blissful normalcy, something that brought her mind back into the here and now even if it was temporary.

No, she knew that it wasn’t a way to solve her problems. That wasn’t the point anyways. It was far from the only...

invasive memories

Thin, slightly trembling fingers reached out to trace the edge of the photograph that sat there in the small box that he held. He hadn’t eaten in a couple of days now. That wasn’t highly unusual for him, though he normally took the food that Badeau offered him whenever he’d encourage him to eat. But lately, Ziator had refused. With most people, he would pretend to eat but with Bad, he didn’t do that. It felt like lying and he didn’t want to lie to Bad, even about something like that. He knew he’d have to eat something soon though. It was just that he had a lot on his mind lately and that made everything more difficult for him.

He was missing his mother. Or… maybe not missing. …Was it?  He wasn’t sure. His memories...

Piece of his heart

Like most evenings these days, Ziator was laying on the bed with Badeau, his head resting on the other’s chest. Zia stared up at the ceiling, daydreaming, as Bad read. It wasn’t an unusual situation for the two of them to be like that together but it was so different than Zia was ever used to. And yet, it felt so incredibly perfect. It was as if he’d been waiting for these moments his entire life.

Somehow, from the moment he had met the man, Badeau had made him feel connected in a way he’d never felt before. He’d always been an independent person, he had to be, but it was more than that. He had always felt cut off from others, disconnected in a way that made him feel very lonely. And somehow, he truly hadn’t noticed just...

Abyssal Soul

There were some days that Saeil woke up where he still felt a bit unsettled by what was inside him. The strength and heat of it. It was something that was always there, something he was constantly aware of. It was nearly a year now that the demon had been properly bound to him but it’s been far longer than that since that demon has been a part of him. A part of his soul.

This past week had been full of excitement and one that the dancer had greatly enjoyed. He’d been his usual carefree, free spirited self. But sometimes that didn’t matter. Sometimes those memories still crept into his subconscious and caused him to have nightmares. They never made much sense. Just flashes.

That massive abyssal fixating his gaze right on him...

Another year

Saeil put the last of the items into the box. It was hard to believe that it already a year had gone by since he’d sent out a box like this one to Zelly. This year though, it seemed to mean even more.

He now knew the truth about his family and now knew that he owed his life to her not just for one instance but two. She’d not only saved his life when he put himself in harm’s way to save her but she found him when he was an abandoned newborn and brought him to the Sunspell estate in hopes of giving him a better chance. Though his life certainly hadn’t been the best, they had given him all the food, clothing and shelter he needed for most of his childhood. She hadn’t known what kind of people they were. She had always done...

It's great

With the greedy hands of a child, they just take.

People take and take and take and he just lets them. Until he’s left with only a stump. And he simply invites them to have a seat on the stump. He just smiles and says it’s fine.

It’s fine.

He doesn’t need anything in return. He doesn’t need anything at all. After all, he’s only had himself to rely on all this time. Why would he need anyone?

It had always been hard for him to open up to others. Most of the times that he had, nothing good had come of it, in the end. Those people had pried off his walls so quickly that everything had come crashing through. There was so much that it was enough to drown someone or send them running.

That alone was enough to cause...

Burning Soul - Part 3

It was done. Finally, he felt at peace, more settled than he had in such a long time. Truly, now that this being in him was properly contained, he realized just how much it had been affecting him even before Argus’ appearance. That worry in the back of mind was gone. Not only would he not be waking up on fire anymore, but he was now stronger, more powerful and the abyssal could no longer slowly eat away at him. It was now completely under his control.

Of course, he wasn’t quite used to this new found strength. He’d already accidentally broken a door knob and it had only been a day. It was something he was going to need to work on. He didn’t want to end up breaking something important or accidentally crush someone by hugging...

Burning Soul - Part 2

“Have you still been having those dreams? The ones about the solar eclipse?”

Zelektra’s voice broke through Saeil’s thoughts as he sat there in her cottage, situated  in a remote location in Winterspring. He’d been stalling, making small talk with her. Though he had been anxious to get here to talk to her, now that he was he had been putting off getting to the point. He was afraid that once he explained to her, she’d tell him that she had no ideas, that there was nothing that could be done, that this was the end for him.

But then she had to go and bring up this subject. For the longest time, Saeil had been a man who made no real connections with anyone. He kept up walls and he did everything he could to avoid getting...

Burning Soul

Fuck Argus.

Saeil knew it was only a matter of time. It had always only been a matter of time, but that time came closer than he had expected it to. He hadn’t anticipated this, after all. But it was happening and he could tell it was affecting things. Thoughts that weren’t his own were now creeping in, he was even hotter to the touch than he was normally. Too hot. And that morning, he’d woken up to his arm being on fire. His spells were no longer cutting it.

It was now trying to take over. The very thing that had saved his life was something that could easily take it away. Although Saeil was a laid back back who most saw as someone who didn’t have a care in the world, this was always something that was in the back of his...

Family Lies - Part 3

Though that night was so long ago, she could still remember it vividly. She was young, still a student of the darker magics and she was going home but taking the long way. She lived alone and there wasn’t anything to rush home to. But along the way that night, she heard a baby crying. It was odd to hear something like that this far into the woods so she followed the sound.  She stopped though when she saw it.

A man and woman, both looked half dead. Addicts of some sort, she figured by the looks of them. The woman looked nervous, unsure but ultimately determined as she lowered the baby to the ground under the tree, wrapped in a tattered, sad excuse for a blanket.  The couple looked around nervously before running off.

The whole scene...

Family Lies- Part 2

It had been a day since Alaris had told him what he’d discovered. It was strange. He really didn’t know what to feel about it. He should feel shocked, angry, sad… right? Instead he felt… confused, he supposed. No… empty. Like he had lost some of his identity.

But had he really?

He never really was a part of that family. He always felt out of place. Tolerated. Like he was just… there. He didn’t fit and always felt like he was cut from a different cloth. And that was because he was.

He had never been told that he had taken after his mother or his father or any of his other family. Never had any of the same interests or talents as them. While he got along fine with Alaris, they were never close. They never had the kind of...

Family Lies - Part 1

Most of Alaris’s time lately was occupied with finishing things up for the release of his next novel but now that that was nearly finished, he had been helping Saeil with much of the things needed to get the dance studio up and running. The sale of the building was nearly closed but some papers had been needed on Saeil’s end. Which the novelist had been having some difficulty finding. They hadn’t been in the place all the other legal papers of the family members were, which seemed a bit odd since Saeil hadn’t taken them with him when he had been sent away from the estate.

He had expected that maybe the papers had been lost or misplaced. He definitely hadn’t expected what he found, that was for certain. He sat there and...
